Ed Balls, the Labour shadow chncellor, accused the government of complacency after the latest unemployment figures showed that over 2.67 million people are now looking for work. This is up 48,000 in the 3 months to December. Click here to read more.

NEW PLAY AREA FOR UNDER 5s IN URMSTON

Labour Representative Catherine Hynes, who’s standing in Urmston in May’s local council elections, recently scored a success with the council after listening to local residents in Abbotsfield Park. Whilst visiting the local park the Labour team spoke to a number of the parents and heard a lot of complaints over the dilapidated state of the under-5s play area.

Having listened to the views of local residents, Catherine got in touch with the relevant council officer. The office recently informed her that, following her emails and telephone calls, the under 5s area is to be completely revamped over the coming weeks. The officer has agreed to keep her up to date.
